Universities (research facilities) have many expensive devices installed, such as precision instruments, research equipment, and supercomputers. In addition to the damage to the equipment itself caused by lightning strikes, the interruption of experiments, loss of observational data, and disappearance of research data due to lightning damage can result in even greater losses. Our company has supplied a large number of lightning protectors, primarily for high-capacity power supplies, to a science and engineering university located in a mountainous area where lightning strikes are frequent and concerns about lightning damage to various equipment were raised. 【Case Overview】 ■ Issues - Attention is needed to ground lightning surges that can wrap around from lightning strikes to lightning rods and other devices. - In cases where there are multiple buildings, the ground potential difference between buildings can cause lightning surges to propagate not only to the building that was struck but also to nearby buildings. ■ Countermeasures: We propose VAJ-type lightning protectors for high-capacity power supplies at the main power distribution panel of floors with critical loads, and VNJ-type and VTJ-type lightning protectors for communication lines and signal lines depending on the equipment situation. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

Water supply and sewage facilities are critical infrastructure where shutdowns are not permitted. However, many of these facilities are located in suburban or mountainous areas with frequent thunderstorms, and they often contain instrumentation equipment and telemetry, which are relatively susceptible to lightning strikes, leading to a high incidence of lightning damage. Our lightning arresters are installed on power supplies, communication lines, instrumentation signal lines, inverters, and various equipment both inside and outside the facility, protecting the equipment from lightning. 【Case Overview】 - Lightning arresters are installed on the power supply sections of telemetry panels and instrumentation panels, as well as on telemetry communication lines and measurement signals from field equipment. - We also propose installation on the power supply and signal lines of measurement equipment on the field side. - In cases where wiring distances are long, lightning arresters are installed on self-owned communication lines between equipment and control signal lines between panels. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.
